Parisa Hashempour
Researcher
Hello, I’m Parisa and I’m a Researcher at Horizons. I have nearly a decades’ experience investigating, writing about, and teaching on social issues through my work as a journalist and anthropological researcher. My work has focused on race and migration, social protest, marginalised groups, healthcare, equality and human rights and climate change. As a qualitative researcher, I specialise in conducting interviews and ethnographic research to amplify the voices of those my work represents.
My passion lies in transforming complex ideas and findings into accessible formats — whether that’s through the written word or by taking a multimedia approach. I have an MA in Migration History from Leiden University in the Netherlands where I also worked as a junior lecturer in International Studies. I am also a PhD candidate in Anthropology at The University of Edinburgh where my work centres the experiences of Iranian migrants in Scotland’s Central Belt.
